It is always better to let our computers execute repetitive actions automatically. Even simple tasks can get tedious if you have to perform them multiple times. Z-Cron is capable of running any application automatically, according to your own timetable. Besides applications, it can also execute various actions, using the same schedule. The software comes with many more features which you can find on its options panel or in different sections of its interface.

If you intend to use the software for non-commercial purposes, you will not have to buy a license. Z-Cron is free and it can be installed swiftly on numerous Windows platforms. The installed program does not take up too much disk space and it will not slow down your machine.

Z-Cron's interface is divided into multiple sections, but its core functions can be found on the Task page. Here you can set up and schedule automatic tasks. A new window, with multiple navigation tabs, will show up, where you may type a label and description for your task, specify a program's .exe files, add parameters and more. The second tab, on the same window, contains a series of options for scheduling your task. The software lets you select certain days of the week or month. The time of the day can be set on a separate window, where you need to click a series of check boxes, to specify the hours and minutes. You can also use a drop menu to select every 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes.

If an application requires administrator privileges, you can specify the username and password, under the third tab, when creating a task. Before you save a task, you may click a few check boxes to activate it, set it to run once per day and more. Besides launching applications automatically, Z-Cron can display a reminder or execute certain tasks, like copying files, sending emails, cleaning up directories and many more. Instead of specifying a path for an .exe file, you can type a command in the same field. Alternatively, you may click the Tools button, next to this field and select an automatic action from a long list.

Created tasks are listed on the interface and you can delete, copy or start them manually if you right click them and select an option from the context menu. Other sections of the interface will display a log, which can be saved, printed or copied to the clipboard, a list of tasks which are scheduled for the current day and the program's general settings menu. You can set Z-Cron to run automatically, when the operating system starts, set a delay or make the software run as a system service. If you specify a SMTP server and your email's log in credentials, on the same options panel, Z-Cron will notify you of executed tasks by email.

Pros

Z-Cron is not limited to running applications automatically. It is also capable of executing various tasks, from simple ones, like displaying a message, to advanced ones, such as synchronizing the system time with a server or cleaning up folders. The best part is that it takes only a few minutes to get used to the interface and its options.

Cons

The options from certain sections are displayed on separate windows, when they could have fitted on the main interface. With Z-Cron, you will be able to automate a wide range of actions, saving valuable time in the process.
